ADMISSIONS POLICY

  • The parents must state in writing that they will volunteer throughout the year with various school activities.

  • The parents must agree in writing that:
    they will meet all tuition and other financial obligations and they will willingly support the school  as required.

  • Parents will have read and completed admissions packet.

  • Parents must be interviewed by the Admissions Committee.

  • All prospective 5th through 8th grade students will be assessed  in  reading, math and grammar to determine their academic needs.  

  • In most cases decisions regarding admission of students to Milestones will be based on the date the completed application is received by the Admissions Office  including  fees any required fees. 

  • The Admissions Committee will determine the admissibility of a student based upon the information forwarded to them. All decisions from the Admissions Committee are final.

  • The Admissions Committee reserves the right to refuse admission to a student who will not benefit from the services provided by the Milestones Community School.

  • Acceptance or rejection of applicants will be by written notification.

  • The registration fee will be refunded if the family is not accepted by the school.

  • The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national  or ethnicity.

  • Each student will be required to provide a copy of most recent physical and immunizations records in addition to a birth certificate.

  • Notebook Paper (Wide or College Ruled – 300 count)

  • Composition Notebooks (3)

  • 3-Ring Binder (1 inch)

  • Tab Dividers (2 packs of 5 tabs)

  • Colored Pencils

  • Cap Erasers

  • Hand Sanitizer

  • Facial Tissue

  • Clorox Wipes (or similar)

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

The following rules and regulations are subject to change in response to the needs of  Milestones Community School.  Classroom attendance is vital because many instructional activities include the following: demonstrations, cooperative learning experiences, videos, oral directions/ explanations, and the practice of appropriate social skills. We believe that classroom learning experiences which are interactive are more effective than passive learning experiences, which are not interactive and done outside the classroom.

 

Dress Code

Students are expected to be neatly, cleanly and appropriately dressed in school uniform.  School uniform is red, white, or blue polo style shirts.  Pants, shorts, and skirts must be khaki or navy blue.  Skirts and shorts may be no more than 2 inches above the knee. Coats, jackets, hoodies, etc are not allowed in the classroom.

 

Materials

Educational materials will be provided by Milestones Community School.  Students are expected to take good care of their materials. A list of necessary school supplies will be provided at the beginning of each quarter.  Students that cause intentional damage to school materials will be billed for replacement.

 

Attendance Policy

Daily attendance is important for your child's academic success.  We understand situations occur and will try to accomadate your child's needs.  If a child is absent the guardian will be notified to confirm his/her abseence.   Child must be accompanied by a note from guardian upon return to school.  If attendance becomes an issue a conference will be scheduled.

 

Code of Cunduct

  • Any suspicion or evidence of possession, use, or distribution of drugs or alcohol may result in expulsion. Students suspected of drug use will be required to take a drug screen.

 

  • Physical fighting and/or the possession of weapons will result in expulsion. Possession of weapons will involve the police.

 

  • Beepers and cellular phones are only allowed with parent or teacher permission.  Phones must be kept on vibrate.  Violations of policy will result in notification of parents and confiscation of phone.  

 

Classes take place in the Milestones School Building and Gymnasium. Ours is not an open campus. Students must confine themselves to these areas during school hours.

 

Medical Emergencies

If a medical emergency should occur during school hours, Paramedics will transfer the student to the closest Hospital Emergency Room as appropriate. The cost of emergency transportation and treatment is the responsibility of the student’s guardian/parent.
